Male Rhinoplasty

Plastic surgery has been often associated with women, because it is a common thought that only women take great effort in improving their appearance. In years past, women made up the majority of patients have undergone liposuction, facelift, and other procedures. Plastic surgery has also become popular with men – so much so that the industry has tailored a number of procedures specifically for men. One of these procedures is male rhinoplasty.

Overview

The nose sits right at the middle of a person’s face, making it a critical component of one’s appearance. Which is why if the nose is deformed, asymmetric, or altered due to injuries, birth defects, or genetics, it can truly be detrimental to the person’s over all image. But it’s not just about appearances. Defects of the nose can also have physical effects, like difficulty in breathing or the inability to speak properly.

Rhinoplasty fixes all of these problems. While it is commonly thought of as a female procedure, due in part to the popularity sparked by Hollywood. Rhinoplasty for men has existed for a long time, though it was first used for more reasons more practical. These days, however, men have been getting male rhinoplasty surgery done for its aesthetic benefits.

About Rhinoplasty for Males

Apart from the name, there’s not much difference between traditional rhinoplasty, and rhinoplasty for males. The classification mostly refers to specific aesthetic changes that are oriented towards male preferences. For example, while having a large nose may be undesirable to a woman, it may not necessarily be the same to a man. In a male nose job, it is often more about the shape of the nose, rather than the size.

The Kinds of Rhinoplasty for Males

There are two methods of rhinoplasty for males.

Open rhinoplasty – shapes the nose through incisions made inside the nostrils, and one small one outside the nose, across the area that separates the nostrils.
Closed rhinoplasty – shapes the nose through incisions made just inside the nostrils, hiding the scars and allowing the nose to heal faster.

Both methods allow the surgeon to shape the cartilage and bone, to give the desired appearance. Aesthetics-wise, men will want to adjust the nose to have either a more narrow, more broad broad, less pronounced, or more visible appearance.

Recovery Period

Recovery periods can last, at minimum, one to two weeks, and at most, around 2 months. This is due to a number of factors, which include the skill of the surgeon, the physiology of the patient, and how diligent the patient is in following the directions set by the doctor. During this time, there will be a number of side-effects that can occur, such as bruising, bleeding, swelling, and minor pain. Should these last longer than anticipated, however, it is important for patients to have their doctors take a look at them, to determine if they might need revision rhinoplasty.

Costs

There is no one price for rhinoplasty for males. Depending on the location of the clinic or surgeon, the extent of the work needed to be done, and current market trends, the price of rhinoplasty will change. However, on average, rhinoplasty for males costs, on average, between $3,000 to $8,000. It is important to know that cost does not equal quality, and there are clinics and surgeons who are good, but do not cost as much as an equally skilled surgeon, just because one is located in a humble town, and the other is in a cosmopolitan city.
