Revision Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures done in the world today. And this is because many people may find themselves unsatisfied with their noses. Whether it is because of their genes, a physical injury, or just personal preference, many people turn to rhinoplasty to make the necessary adjustments. It has become so popular, in fact, that there is even male rhinoplasty that is specific to male clients.
However, as much as technology and techniques have advanced over the years, the results of surgery are not always satisfactory. Many clients end up being unhappy with the outcome of their surgeries, while others may find themselves experiencing complications and side-effects that have altered the results. This is when revision rhinoplasty is needed.
As the name suggests, revision rhinoplasty is the repair, alteration, or even total change of a previous rhinoplasty operation. Many statistics say that as many as 15% of all rhinoplasty procedures will require revision, which is a very large number. And as mentioned earlier, the need for a revision nose job may stem from both cosmetic and functional reasons.
Many surgeons can give a certain idea of what the nose could look like after rhinoplasty, using photos and models. However, it is only after the actual rhinoplasty is done that the client can truly see the new nose from all angles. Sometimes, what looked good on paper may not actually be what the client thought it would be.
Prior rhinoplasties can also cause functional damage as well. Nasal collapse is a possibility, and can be very traumatic to a patient who experiences it. There is also the possibility of further complications underneath the surface. While the nose looks alright on the outside, internal problems such as pain, difficulty in breathing, and infection, are all possible.
All of these problems cause not just physical damage, but also psychological and emotional trauma. Some people who have spent a fortune to get rhinoplasty done may feel depressed after seeing the bad results. Some may find their self-esteem further damaged, and may not have the courage to face the public until the problems are fixed. It is fortunate then that revision rhinoplasty is available.
But this procedure is not as easy as it seems, because rhinoplasty in itself is already a complicated procedure. Always remember that not all surgeons are capable of performing a revision nose job properly. It is however, still possible, and all that’s needed is to find the right surgeon and clinic. The internet is a good place to quickly look for a revision option, because information is readily available in just a few clicks of the mouse.
